1. Introduction
Modern slavery — including forced labour, human trafficking, debt bondage, and child labour — is a serious crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. TechProf LTD has zero tolerance for modern slavery in any form, in any part of our business or supply chain.
While TechProf LTD's annual turnover is below the statutory threshold for mandatory reporting under section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, we publish this statement voluntarily because we believe it's the right thing to do and because clients and partners increasingly expect it.
2. About TechProf LTD
TechProf LTD is a UK private limited company (Company No. 7710963, VAT GB167007810) headquartered at Suite 27, Chessington Business Centre, Cox Lane, Chessington, Surrey, KT9 1SD. We provide IT consulting, managed services, software engineering, AI, and design to clients primarily in the UK and EMEA. We have been operating since 2010 and employ a small team of permanent staff and contractors.
3. Our supply chain
Our direct supply chain is concentrated in a small number of categories:
- Cloud and software vendors — large established providers (AWS, Microsoft, Google, etc.) with their own modern slavery statements.
- Hardware — laptops, displays, and peripherals from major manufacturers.
- Professional services — accountants, lawyers, insurers, and other advisers, all UK-based.
- Office services — building management, cleaning, utilities, all sourced through our managed-office provider.
- Subcontractors — independent specialists we engage on specific client projects.
The risk of modern slavery in our direct supply chain is assessed as low, given the geographic concentration in the UK and the nature of the goods and services procured. The greatest residual risk sits in the upstream electronics manufacturing of our hardware suppliers, which we mitigate through supplier choice and engagement.
4. Our policies
We maintain the following policies and procedures, reviewed annually:
- Anti-slavery and human trafficking policy — sets out our commitments and the standards expected of all employees, contractors, and suppliers.
- Whistleblowing policy — provides a confidential channel for employees and others to report concerns, with protection against retaliation.
- Recruitment policy — we verify the right to work, pay at or above the relevant Living Wage rates, do not charge any recruitment fee to candidates, and do not retain personal documents unnecessarily.
- Supplier code of conduct — sets minimum expectations on labour practices, working conditions, and human rights for all suppliers.
5. Due diligence
Our practical steps include:
- Supplier onboarding — we assess new suppliers above a financial threshold for ethical and labour-practice risks. Suppliers in higher-risk categories are asked to confirm their own modern slavery position.
- Recruitment integrity — all employment is verified directly with the candidate; we do not work with intermediaries known to operate exploitative practices.
- Subcontractor screening — independent specialists we engage are vetted, paid promptly, and contracted with clear terms.
- Reporting channel — anyone who has a concern can raise it confidentially, without fear of reprisal.
6. Training and awareness
Modern slavery awareness is included in onboarding for all employees and contractors. Those involved in procurement and recruitment receive additional training. We refresh awareness annually.
7. Effectiveness
We are a small organisation and our supply chain is correspondingly limited. We measure effectiveness primarily through:
- Number of supplier risk assessments completed against the target.
- Reports raised through the whistleblowing channel and how they were resolved.
- Incidents identified, escalated, and addressed.
To date, no instances of modern slavery have been identified within our business or known supply chain. We will report transparently if that changes.
8. Approval
This statement has been approved by the directors of TechProf LTD and will be reviewed and updated annually. It applies to the financial year ending in the year of publication.
9. Reporting concerns
If you suspect modern slavery in our operations, our supply chain, or anywhere we operate, please contact compliance@techprofessional.co.uk. Reports are treated in strict confidence.
